  Our daughter has gone to Norma Coombs from Kinder through 3rd grade so far. We stayed with Norma Coombs despite moving out of Pasadena, and we will continue to send her to Norma Coombs through 5th grade. Our daughter in involved in after-school choir and coding programs, and the normal-school-day curriculum this year includes violin, swimming, and ceramics along with language arts, math, and science curriculum that is actually ahead of some other schools that we've toured.
  
  This is a wonderful school with incredibly talented and invested staff and teachers, and a very diverse student body. I frequently recommend it to other parents in the area whose children go to other schools, especially when they complain about things their schools are doing wrong that Norma Coombs does right!
  
  Like other schools in PUSD, Norma Coombs is being affected by mismanagement and shake-ups at the district-level, but the staff and teachers have been doing a commendable job of bearing the brunt of these challenges and maintaining a high quality of education and environment for the children.

  NCES is blessed to have consistently talented teachers. It was also our pleasure to have Mrs. Caldwell, as a 2nd teacher to my eldest son; she is amazing! Ms. Debbie is just the most wonderful kindergarten teacher your child could have. Definitely a good school with involved & caring parents, being involved is contagious and there are simple ways to help the school. In addition, there are many fun activities outside the classroom; from launching kid rockets, Science Center, Math night, Restaurant nights, etc.

  This is an appreciation of a teacher that exceeded my expectations! PUSD has a jewel in there system.Mrs Charlotte Caldwell, an outstanding and caring second grade teacher at Norma Coombs Alternative School, went above and beyond the expected time given for each class. When most teachers are relaxing on their break, she would spend extra time with my son to help him become more engaged with his school work. Also, I noticed that she took the curriculum and changed it to meet my son’s needs to in-crease his learning potential. She noticed my son had a hard time focusing and tookthat as a challenge rather than a problem. My son enjoys going to school now be-cause a teacher cared.
