My kids and I love going to the Huntington Gardens and have been members for many years. Especially love that the Children’s Garden is re-open again and the new Chinese garden is also a beautiful addition. The food at the Main Cafe is very good and a great selection of food options. A bit on the pricey side, but overall nice dining experience sitting on the patio. The Huntington Library has done a great job managing attendance and it never feels too crowded.
The Huntington is an absolute masterpiece when it comes to botanical gardens. The grounds are expansive, but not overwhelming.
I especially loved the Chinese Garden as it was visually stunning and thoughtfully designed. The walkway path from there to the nearby Japanese Garden was lovely too. Those two are must sees!
I spent 2 - 3 hours just enjoying half of the gardens. I didn't even get to see the other gardens, nor the Library, nor the Museum. That's how much there is to this venue. You really need multiple visits to see it all.
If I lived within 10 minute drive, I would buy annual membership and visit the gardens just to relax/decompress.
My one caution - try not to visit on a hot day. Anything above 90F degrees might feel oppressively hot. There's a lot of walking in between things and even though much of it is shaded, some of it is not. Best bet is visit first thing in the morning or visit during the months with milder temperatures (December - July)
The Huntington Garden is a gorgeous escape from the city. You could spend an entire day here, and still not see the entire grounds. The Rose Garden is stunning. The succulent section is truly spectacular. But my favorite are the Asian gardens. A perfect way to spend a day. A Los Angeles Treasure.
So... worth the visit! Plenty of gardens to walk through including. Tea garden, Japanese and Chinese garden, rose garden (favorite), herb garden, and desert garden etc.
Bring really good walking shoes and a hat!
I saw many people just reading or doing yoga on the lawn because it’s the most peaceful place ever!
Also, not too crowded because they have a max capacity.
Just fantastic. Only the gardens and grounds are open at this posting. Such a variety of plants and in the most beautiful settings. The Chinese garden, the canyon walk, rose garden, water falls, cactus garden and associated structures are outstanding. The theme gardens and water features are just so fantastic you can't wait to see the next section. A large property that will take some time to see but you should enjoy every aspect and moment of your visit.
The Huntington should be visited even with the galleries closed. The Huntington is just beautiful to explore. It will take you about 4-5 hours to see everything and enjoy yourselves. You can take a picnic lunch as well and there is plenty of space to enjoy and relax with the people you go with. If the galleries were open, you would spend the entire day there. I also recommend lots of sunscreen and a hat as you are in the sun 50% of the time. A hidden gem found in Pasadena. I can't wait to go back when everything opens up.
