Beautiful trail, variety of trees that provide plenty of shade, very peaceful and clean. The view at the top of the hill is amazing. Great for hiking, walking your dog and taking the kids for a fun adventure.Trail has small streams that are easy to cross. I seen variety of birds lots of squirrels. Parking space off of Via Verde is limited, I recommend arriving early or in the late after noon, additional parking is available at the Valley staging area on ( 1100 S Valley Center Ave San Dimas) and on Lyman staging area (end of Scarborough Lane past Liverpool court crossing).

Beautiful & easy trail. You will walk beside the creek most of the trail & cross the water several times. The trail is well maintained & mostly shaded over the 6M distance. It's not a loop, so you will walk out & back. Free parking lots available @ 3 different locations. No restrooms in the area

Nice out-and-back trail with the majority of the steepness right at the San Dimas Avenue trailhead. The trail starts with a relatively steep decent for about a quarter of a mile just to get to the valley, where you'll encounter lush plants, some interesting rock formations, and multiple stream tributaries if the Puddingstone Reservoir is full enough. Also plenty of tree cover after the initial decent, so it's also nice for summer hiking. I don't recommend coming right after a rain due to mud and potential trail damage, but more importantly because of safety- the main stream that you have to cross to continue on the trail becomes a little treacherous to cross over. Otherwise, there would be a choice of rocks to hop on or a fallen tree trunk that could get you to the other side of the stream.

Nice with pets and little ones if the stream is low, but they might get tired in the end because you're going back uphill at the end of your hike. Definitely recommended for beginners, but with proper hiking shoes. Poison oak and rattlesnakes are known to be in the area (warnings clearly posted), but I haven't encountered any snakes and the poison oak is sparse and obvious.

Trailhead is clean and has a nice view of the Walnut Valley and has plenty of park tables to picnic on. No restrooms, but downtown San Dimas (and Via Verde area) are very close by. Parking is free, but actual parking lot spaces only fit about ten cars, including one handicap space. Overflow parking is street parking along San Dimas Avenue.

Nice trail along Walnut Creek. At the moment it has a little water so sturdy shoes and or poles are recommended as you cross the creek 4 or 5 times. Mostly shaded so it would be a perfect trail in the summer. The parking at San Dimas avenue is at top of the canyon so there is a mildly steep descent for a quarter mile. If you want to avoid the climb start at the other end by the Lyman staging area.

If you go on a working day, there will be fewer people and you can have the peace and quiet all to yourself. Once in a while, meet a few people who also go climbing, say hello.
This trail is relatively short, with many streams and shade trees, which is suitable for Spring / summer season It takes about 2.5 hours to walk the whole way and back.
