It was a great surprise. We live nearby; cute little shop. We ordered the 5 chicken wing meal. Great portion; the chicken was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. If you order the hot chicken (not listed on the menu), portion comes in half chicken or whole chicken; then decide the spice or go with special flavor such as spicy garlic, etc.
Chicken Box here on Amar Road in West Covina is VERY good. The chicken is juicy and crispy. I love other fried chicken but this version makes the others seem greasy by comparison. Their mashed potatoes are also really good--they truly taste homemade. Good restaurant!!
Here's one not-so-great, sort of "okay" item on their menu: their chicken soup. It consists of a good substantial broth with no spices I could taste, and chopped veggies and a little chicken. That's great for when you're sick. So it filled my belly.
But I prefer Mexican-style chicken soup: garlicky, with big chunks of veggies so you have to spear em with a fork and bite at em. The same with the chicken that goes in the soup: Mexican restaurants will stuff, into your takeout container, several full, meaty chicken limbs (sorry) along with the veggies etc. And they'll give you some type of chilis or salsa and lime wedges, AND tortillas! So, I'll go back for this soup if I get COVID, but I wish it was a lot more meaty.
