“How do give a rating to man who dedicated his life to his patients ? You just honor him for the human-being that he is . I went to the hospital they kept me there for two days of testing ( without getting in to details as they are long ) they could not figure out what the issue was, that evening when I was discharged from the hospital my situation got much worse than before. I went back to ER and they were too busy as such I went back home and contacted Dr.Avanes, he saw me on an emergency basis the following AM and he found out what the problem was while an entire team at the hospital could not have found it without him . He treats pro athletes and other high-profile clients. So, having a doctor that is in demand treat me like I am important, and fit me in his busy schedule, meant a lot to me. (This was in stark contrast to popular Torrance-based sports medicine elbow surgeons. I called several but none of them would fit me in their schedules for over a month. I described my injury and that based on a family doctor's opinion, it needed surgery right away. So, I will never contact another Sports medicine doctor in Torrance again. It was a blessing because I got a way better surgeon. I don't write bad reviews, so I am only doing this comparison to show how awesome you are treated at Kerlan-Jobe.) A friend told me about Kerlan-Jobe and how great they are. I had no idea before going that they were so popular. When I told the receptionist over the phone of my injury, she said come in right away. Dr. Gambardella squeezed me in his schedule at the end of the day on a Friday, I think. Then, he sent me downstairs to MRI same day, called me back same day when MRI results were in, and tentatively scheduled surgery in a week. Surgery was a week after the first appointment--amazing. Minimally invasive surgery left behind only ultra-thin small scars -- 1 1/4 inches in bend of elbow so completely unnoticed and about 3 inches near elbow along bottom of forearm. I have several sports injuries and scars, so it means a lot when I say hardly noticeable. Doctor threaded some kind of surgical string through holes drilled in radius bone and tied it to distal bicep tendon...I think. My Distal bicep tendon ruptured 100% per the MRI--I had no use of my bicep. Now, a year later, I have unrestricted use of my bicep, as far as I can tell. I take it easy, just in case, but I can do normal pull-ups and things just as before. If it wasn't for the staff at Kerlan-Jobe and Dr. Gambardella, my bicep would have atrophied within weeks. I am extremely grateful. Perfect surgery for something that could have been very problematic. Super high-quality service every time. No issues with insurance billing. Staff was nice. Frankly, total excellent treatment at a doctor's office is uncommon. Dr. Gambardella was very service orientated, very personable and informative. Best surgeon in my book.”
