“I initially contacted JACO for exterior painting but put that dream on hold due to other circumstances. But we had an accidental misstep in the attic and we knew we had to get it fixed right away. After calling around, I asked Afid at JACO if he also did patchwork. Because of his schedule, he was able to accommodate our request and started work the next morning. Our ceiling was patched, popcorn ceiling scraped, and room completely repainted all in 3 days. The two women who served us were friendly and had glow of real happiness on them, which is almost spooky for Los Angeles, but all the more remarkable because of it. The food was very good +- I had the chilaquiles, My friend had the heuvos rancheros, and they serve up a beautiful warm bolillo, which made me wish I could come back and sample their bakery in a more systematic fashion. the chilaquiles were very good but my bar is very high, unfairly so, I reckon. I think the HR were good too. I very much liked their unsweetened cafe olla, which I think I ruined by putting in half and half in a fit of distraction. Well it wasn't ruined but it would have been better without it. And I love what they did to make the sidewalk seating a friendly grotto like porch -- a pleasant oasis of character in this pretty bleak commercial neighborhood. I'd return again if I were for some reason in the neighborhood again...”
