Azalea Hill Trail has easy access, is near Fairfax, and is not very hard to climb. The view of alpine lake is spectacular, and there are a lot of opportunities for rest since there are huge rocks nearly everywhere.
The landscape was a tad dry in June, but just as fun regardless. Unlike other hot spots in the Mt Tamalpais Park, Azalea does not get crowded especially during the week. I hiked on a Wednesday, and I didn't see anybody else which was nice. Great place to hike or picnic.

Very beautiful place to visit. Just a short hike and you can reach the lakes. You must have good balance and be able to react quickly due to some ocational loose rocks.

Absolutely beautiful hiking trail. Can't beat Northern California!

Beautiful hike down to a series of waterfalls here. The trail starts off on a fire road, there's no real shade to speak of and it can get fairly windy as well, and parts of this section are a long, relatively steep ascent. The views from this part of the trail are spectacular. Eventually the trail descends into dense forest where it is significantly more humid. The trail is not difficult at this point, it meanders down through the forest at a relatively gentle slope. If you turn left before the cute wooden bridge there is an overlook above the falls. A sign explains that this area hosts some endangered frogs, and during the breeding season there is someone out there every weekend with a telescope and they will offer to let you look at the frogs. For a better view of the falls from the bottom, you can backtrack and cross the wooden bridge.

In addition to the falls, during spring there are a wide variety of interesting wildflowers you will encounter throughout the hike, the different microclimates mean there's a fair amount of variety in the plants that you will see as you progress.
