This hike will impress even the most experienced. Start at the steep ravine trail at stinson beach then come back via the matt davis trail - even on a rainy day - one of the best hikes you'll do guaranteed.
One of the nicest hiking experiences available for free near a major city. Must bring a quality camera for memories. Finding parking first is your biggest challenge of the day.
Last minute supplies you can get at Stinson Beach Market, a well-stocked store ( a bit pricey too, but nice staff).
The entrance footbridge has a simple No Dogs sign. And warnings about coyotes & rattlesnakes. I would bring a stick, hiking staff, etc does not have to be Viking-sized to do the job.
Enjoy your hike!
Great trail. Beautiful the whole way. We saw monarch butterflies, all sorts of birds and in a couple places you hear a stream and the ocean.
Beautiful trail. Good for kids. Beware poison oak, it's everywhere.
This hiking trail is absolutely amazing. Dipsea trail has quite an incline, but it is groomed well and maintained. There are steps on all of the steeper areas, making it reasonable for everyone. There are fencing areas in certain spots. There is a wooden ladder alongside a small waterfall along this trail as well. I highly recommend the Dipsea Trail / Matt Davis Trail loop. It comes in at just about 7 miles and is full of absolutely amazing scenery, a ton of small waterfalls, ocean views, wildlife, etc.
