Sacred ground
The greatest bird flying spot in all of north america.
The spot! TILTERS!
After the park ranger locks the gate for the night, magic happens here.
This spot known as "sunset" to generations of Mill Valley's finest partiers was where everyone would meet to have a beer and a bird at sunset and watch the sun sink into the ocean.
The secret meeting spot of the "Valley Tilter's", this location offered an excellent view of the road leading to it and therefore was the perfect place to party without being bothered by the park rangers.
It was at this very spot that the idea for the Muir Beach acid test was first hatched.
This spot has hosted partiers since the first roads on Mount Tam were completed.
Bay area legends from Dad O'Rourke to John Cipollina have their ashes spread here.
A spectacular sacred spot.
RIP Fred of the mountain.
Leave no trace.
