  One of my favorite beaches in all of Southern California. 4 stars instead of 5 because any time the place is busy, parking ranges from hard to impossible. The main parking is across PCH from the beach, so be ready for a walk that’s close to half a mile just to get to the beach.
  
  Still, one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire state. If you have the ability to, book one of their beach cottages for one of the most amazing beachfront lodgings available in Southern California.

  Flat fine sand for miles... great family vibe on the beach. Enter at the Beachcomber... the further North you stroll... the quieter it gets. Check out The Shake Shack for lunch... up on the cliff above the Beachcomber. Stairs available...

  Our family loves Crystal Cove. It is a beautiful state beach. We general enter through the Ranger Station, head down the long ramp, and walk, play in the waves, and enjoy ourselves in the sun as we head down to Crystal Cove, the cottages. There, we enjoy looking at the restored homes and dreaming ‘of the day’. Thinking of the many movies made there. We check out the souvenir shop and we head over to the tide pools. If the tide hasn’t come up too much (and in 15 years it has only been too high on one of our visits) we love exploring the tide pools with the grand kids. I’m the type of person who could stay there for most the day, watching the different fish and crab while the waves go in and out. I love watching the waves splash up against the rocks and the spray break off and shoot up toward the sky. In my mind, I can see it in slo-motion and it’s always a beautiful site. Then we walk up the many flights of stairs to the shake shack. My family loves all the many flavor combinations. Unfortunately I have developed a dairy allergy, but I do love their sweet potato fries. They are some of the very best i’ve ever had! Lately, after we’ve fueled up, we will walk back down to the beach and keep walking until we get to Laguna Beach. It is such a beautiful walk the entire way. We really enjoy the beauty, the fresh air, and the exercise. Playing in the surf, kicking around as we go. It is definitely a de-stress to most of our busy lives.
