14 1/2 years out of my gastric bypass performed by Dr. Owens in July of 2006 and I am still at 160 pounds. Was 315. Kept it off due to the education I received.
Dr. Owens is beyond amazing. No complications. Got out of the hospital a day early. Gave his personal cell phone number to me. I called him from the grocery store with a question. He was there to answer it. He is not going to sugar coat anything, this is a serious procedure that will take your dedication to change and following instructions precisely. If anyone is going to do this serious of a procedure... that is who you want but be ready to change everything. Dr. Owens fixes mistakes other surgeons make. He is a rockstar! If you want your hand held... see your primary. If you want a meticulous surgeon doing a life changing procedure... he is who you want. Thank you Dr. Owens (Dr. Scapel).
And while in surgery the head of surgery at the hospital was chatting with my dad. He said I could not have been in better hands and had the best.
Indeed a Doctor who has my best interest in mind. Dr. Owens focuses on what really matters and for that I am humbled .
His bedside manner is on point. When i questioned my problem solving he listens.
Doctor has an interest in prudently assessing what is needed.

I had gastric sleeve done on 4/22/15 and must say that I felt like a rock star, even moments after surgery. 3 weeks out today, and I still feel like a rock star. I remember waking up from anesthesia, being pushed down the hallway to the recovery room, convinced nothing was done because I felt NO PAIN. Haha I can honestly say that I didn't even have any pain while recovering at home. Dr. Owens is amazing and knows exactly what he's doing. I felt comfortable the moment I first met him! I truly feel that through the help of him and his staff, I have saved my life. Thank you, Dr. Owens. :)
Dr. Owens was my surgeon for a gastric sleeve. The surgical procedure he performed was excellent. I am a year out and I have had great results with weight loss, but even better the change in my stomach size makes it possible to lose or maintain weight loss over my lifetime. I have the food hassles of portions or what to eat mostly gone. I generally follow his nutritionist's information and it keeps me healthy and energetic. I was not morbidly obese YET before surgery, but overweight and fighting it. Now I am average weight and relieved. This is something I wish I had available to me in my 20's but now 50's I feel like I am in my 20's. I recommend Dr. Owens and his staff for this procedure. They will help you find success if you do follow their protocal.
