Good food, one the beach, mostly outdoor eating, dog friendly and a nice staff. Can be a bit crowed on weekends between 10 and 1.
Sorry to say, now closed. Looks like another restaurant may move in but not yet. ;-(
This was one of my favorite restaurants ever - and now it is SHUT. The location was simply incredible, with a very laid-back atmosphere. Food was always excellent, and service friendly. Today, February 20, 2018, one of the last mom and pop 'surf shack' cafes was LOST FOREVER due to lease renewal greed for the location by the City of Seal Beach. An iconic place is now gone. The City of Seal Beach has no idea how upset they have made both regular locals and visitors from outside of the country like me by outing this place. Apparently many regulars were in tears to learn of River's End being shut.
Until I was talking with the owners while they were removing all of the fittings from the restaurant today, I had no idea they were even looking after the cleaning and supplies for the public beach restrooms in the adjacent building, in addition to their own restrooms.
To all involved with River's End: thanks for a great 20 years... people really appreciated what you were doing.
Losing River's End is a HUGE LOSS for both Seal Beach and California.
Greed knows no bounds.
Located at the end of the San Gabriel River, snug up against the beach. $3 parking fee. American and Hispanic style breakfasts with eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes/waffles, enchiladas, etc. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pitchers of alcoholic drinks (Bloody Mary, mimosa, etc.) available. Typical breakfasts/brunches run $9-$15. Large portions. Outdoor seating via tables for four, moved together as needed for larger parties. Open for lunch and dinner also.
Solid food. Busy on weekends obviously. Ample seating inside and outside. A good place for brunch and has excellent views of the ocean. Very relaxed. Make sure to pay for your parking outside at one of machine around the corner of the restaurant as you come in from the parking lot.
Love this place because the food is good and the view can't be beat by too many others. I have had bad service here before once but it didn't ruin my experiences prior or there after. It's a nice quiet spot to enjoy a meal that's fairly priced with great scenery.
