Honda-ya does Yakitori really, really well. The staff are amazing, especially Leo, the host is always super caring and kindhearted to my elderly parents who are regulars. The atmosphere is VERY Japanese, lively, and always crowded, so expect a wait. On a recent early Saturday evening visit both my mother and I were surprised to find that the rice was sub-par and not fresh tasting. Otherwise, it would be a five star review!
Having been born and lived in japan for 10 years, this place reminds me of food I had back home.
Very authentic, and the food is incredible. I can't get enough of the yakitori and usually spend $100+ here because it's SO good.
Love the atmosphere here too, and customer service is great.
It can get pretty busy at times so expect a wait, but its totally worth it. You don't want to miss out on this food.
This restaurant opened at 5pm and a large gathering of loyal customers waited out in the cold drizzling weather to get their names on the list to get a table before it opened! Hostess took our temperatures and offered sanitizer before taking us to our table. Honda-Ya was highly recommended by a family member.. reminded him of one of his favorite restaurant while living in Japan. We ordered so many skewers .. delicious cheek, beef, eggplant, meatballs, asparagus/bacon, salad, fries, octopus.. a variety for the five of us. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive! Worth the trip to Tustin!
Place is great. Sometimes the wait is long because of how busy it is but it is worth the wait. The have floor seating as well as table and patio seating. The food and service were also great.
