We picked a perfect day to be outdoors enjoying a tour of the dozens of citrus varieties grown onsite! Manfred led our tour. His command of his topics and of the citrus industry's history was spectacular! Thank you!
Great place to walk or run and catch the history of the citrus industry and gorgeous views of southern Riverside countryside. Worth the small parking fee. Get there early for cooler temps, definitely uphill climbs but you can also stay on the flat paths AND go across the street to Arlington Sports park to extend your activity. Museum is also worth a stop. Check hours though online. Photographic wonders too.
California Citrus State Historic Park is interesting and beautiful. The orchards are lovely and the museum exhibits are well organized. The museum building has a lot of interesting historical information about the citrus industry, and where the citrus trees originally came from.
Visited the Park yesterday and had a wonderful time learning about the significance that the citrus industry has had in the Riverside area and Inland Empire as a whole. The visitors center was open and contained information regarding the history of citrus in the New World, as well as offering a guided tour on Fridays at 11 & 2. The tour was approximately one hour in length, but it was quite informational and provided a great perspective of how different types of crops are grown, harvested, and maintained. There was even a wonderful sampling of citrus at the conclusion of the tour! Well worth the $5 donation.
We are new to Riverside and this was one of our first outings. Our family (from ages 6-51) had a wonderful time visiting and learning about the varieties of citrus grown in this area. Our tour guide was so friendly and funny! His knowledgeable explanations and his whit made it a delightful experience.
The others visitors within our group added to the experience by sharing their insights and stories as well. Beautiful views and photo ops made it a hit! Loved the indoor museum, super clean and warm restrooms and the TASTING table. The gift shop was on point. Nothing over done and not lacking either. Simple and tasteful. Pun intended.
We will definitely be back and every visitor we ever have will be taken here! Inspired to learn more about the citrus history of Riverside.
