After a lot of research and help from our family church, we found this incredibly wonderful care home. The owners and staff are knowledgeable, experienced and incredibly caring. We feel they treat everyone with great kindness and there is often laughter. It feels much like a family home and the food is consistently healthy and tasty Japanese fare. Even amidst the current pandemic, there is a renewed diligence and 'gambatte' spirit. We feel very lucky to have found this establishment run with heartfelt care by owners Nori and Harue. Hontoni arigatoo gozaimasu.

We were looking for a care home for our mother and found American River Care Home that catered primarily to the Japanese with a tag line of “Life with Miso Soup” and thought that this is too good to be true. Well almost two years later, it has been better than we could have hoped. Nori, Harue and the entire staff are professional, caring and supportive. Mom is in a safe, clean and caring home. Even during this difficult pandemic, Harue and her team were on top of protecting the residents and getting everyone vaccinated as soon as it became available. I am so grateful. We live nearby and can visit Mom and really enjoy visiting her and everyone there. This is truly a very special place.

This review if for the 3817 Marconi Ave site. Nori Seki is the owner and manager of this care home and he does a fantastic job. We brought our Mom to the care home a little over a year ago and have been tremendously impressed and happy with the care she is getting. Nori, with the help of his daughter, Harue, take meticulous care of all of the residents to make sure they stay safe and happy as possible. They welcome family to visit at any time (although Covid restrictions did limit visits) and was able to schedule one outing to a park for a staff and family luncheon/picnic this past spring as Covid restrictions were slowly lifted. They have hired a wonderful staff that they have trained to care for our Mom as if she was their own mom. The food they serve (mostly Japanese dishes) look and smell delicious reminding us of our childhood growing up. Nori is very communicative about the on goings with our Mom to keep us up to date on her health and well being. We could not be happier with the care our Mom has received from Nori, Harue and the staff. We highly recommend American River Care Home.

A few years ago, I was very fortunate to have found the American River Care Home at 2801 Tioga Way, for my mother, who is now almost 90 years old. Harue, her dad Nori, and their staff are the best of the best!! They love and care for each resident as if they were their own parents and their health and happiness are top priorities. I cannot say enough about how hard and selflessly Harue, Nori and the staff have worked and keep working, during these hard COVID times. They are conscientious about keeping minds and bodies active. They play games, have exercise time, music time, celebrate birthdays and take them on outdoor field trips to the park, when they can. Family is always welcome and treated like family. Harue and her father speak fluent Japanese, so that is an added bonus, as my mom and several of the residents are Japanese. The food they serve is fabulous and healthy at the same time, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is always a pleasure to be able to visit my mom again, especially seeing her so happy, and I enjoy my time there. I rest easy knowing that my mom is in good hands and I would recommend this care home 1000%.

This review is for the location @ 2801 Tioga Way Sacramento
For the past 4 years our Aunt has lived @ American River Care home in a very loving and nurturing environment. The owners & caregivers treated us like family. We were welcome to stop by at any time and hang out with our loved one. They get to know each residents likes and dislikes, interacting on an individual basis. My observation was this allowed the residents to still feel independent instead of being "managed". Harue & the caregivers are kind, caring and wonderfully patient. They are knowledgeable in elder care and communicate extremely well with family when there is a health concern or other issue. I would have felt overwhelmed if Harue hadn't been on top of things coordinating Miyoko's medical care, guiding us when situations arose and supporting whatever decisions we made. She welcomed feedback and we worked as a team. They provide group exercises, healthy home-cooked meals and engage the ladies in crafts and fun activities. It was fun to follow them on Facebook. There were even field trips to community functions, Starbucks, ice cream parlor, etc that we were welcome to participate in as well. Miyoko always looked clean and well cared for, along with the others. Every time I visited, the house smelled like a home, not a facility. When the time came, they coordinated seamlessly with hospice to ensure all of her needs were met. They were over the top with compassion and respect at the end of life, never once leaving me with bad feelings during this difficult time. I guess the one true test of placing your loved one in a home is "Would I want to live here myself?" The answer is a 5 Star YES.
