“One surviving memory from my childhood in Elmhurst. The Rancho Market on Stockton Blvd (not actually in Elmhurst, I know) and the store on 48th we all knew as Hiram's are both gone. I remember going to Cottage Market (as we knew it then, when tying an onion to one's belt was the style...) for bubble gum or candy bars. It was nice having these little neighborhood stores to go to.”

“I was recently responsible for choosing carpet for my son's home that he will be renting out. Our property manager, Tiner Properties, referred us to The Carpet Sales. I was a little hesitant, as one of the big box stores was offering free carpet installation and we were trying to stay within a specific budget. Well, The Carpet Sales were able to get me better carpet, that was cheaper, and even with installation fees came in at about the same price that I would have paid at the big box place, but both the quality of the carpet and pad were superior. I worked with Eric Jr. from start to finish and found him very friendly, professional and helpful. He was very patient, flexible and accommodating. The only snag we ran into was out of his control .....a delay in the arrival of the carpet which was special ordered. Eric was able to ensure it was delivered the next day and had his crew in the following day to install. They did an amazing job, and as the home was vacant and the old carpet already removed, (per my request) they were able to complete the job in only a day, which surprised me. The home now looks like new with the lovely new carpet. I highly recommend Eric Jr. and The Carpet Sales and encourage anyone looking for new flooring to support a small, family owned business. that does a great job for a really reasonable price.”

“Good prices on gas and diesel. The people that work there are always friendly and they keep a clean store. The pumps can be a bit tight when its busy. They have snack foods, gas, diesel, beer, wine, and ice. If you need an issential like milk, lady products, or a roll of tp they have it. They have good prices on somethings and other you may spend a bit more on but its still a lot better than going to Walmart for a little bit of milk. Parking can be rough and if people don't stay within the lines it can get to be a mess very quickly(not any fault of the business). All in all I like going to local businesses and these guys have earned it.”

“We were having issues with the pilot light going off on our hot water tank for a few weeks. I had to relight the tank almost daily which was a bit of a nuisance. I contacted this service based on fellow Yelp reviewers and found him to be pleasant, knowledgeable and on time (which is huge). Over the phone I explained our situation and the tank was under warranty. He advised me to order the parts needed from the manufacturer, which were covered under the warranty. He came the next day and began taking care of business. Definitely a business contact all Yelpers should have in their phone. You never know when you will need a plumber, especially one who is honest and hardworking. Kudos to them!”
