  This was my first YMCA camp experience as a father. My son had a great time here. He did archery, climbing wall, the petting zoo, and some of the low height ropes course. We had an impromptu Dads vs. Boys soccer game on the turf next to one of the archery ranges (there are two archery ranges). Smart idea to put in a small turf field for field sports. If rather suffer the moderate inauthenticity of turf than play soccer on rocks in the winter.
  
  It's been a bad snow year, but there were still a few patches of snow on the ground, and my son was very excited to make his first snowball. Another father said last year the snow was several feet deep, up to the railings all around the dining hall. That was an epic snow year, so I would guess the average February visit should involve a light layer of snow across the camp.
  
  The dining hall food was actually pretty good for a YMCA camp. The first night pizza was not great. Both breakfasts were good enough to entice my son to eat eggs. The pastrami and chili lunch was tasty, and the roasted chicken dinner was an excellent night cap.
  
  The standard cabins make motel 6 feel like a luxury resort. Our cabin was maybe 15'x20' with six bunk beds, three windows, and two doors. Bathrooms were a bit of a hike down the road, but there were plenty of showers, and we never had to wait in line. Luxury accommodations aren't why I took the boy to Y-camp though so no complaints here. For a little more they do offer nicer cabins.
  
  Overall I was very happy with the YMCA Camp Whittle experience.

  This place is popular for family and school groups gathering. They have many different activities and facilities to use, especially kids activities (they even have a small area for petting the animals). Need to book in advance cause they have limited cabin during peak seasons.
