Went to ride dirt bikes in this area. The camp ground was marked reservations only. No gate at highway 38 to enter.
Awesome group camp ground that you have to 4x4 to get to. 2N01 took a beating in the last storm. High clearance 4x4 are needed. Lots of ruts and rocks! Nothing an experienced off roader can't handle.
Has an outdoor bathroom. No TP right now (Sept 23).
The adjacent field was full of water from the storm.
The place is very nice for a large group (max. 8 cars, 40 people) with plenty of space and shades. On the downside: the toilet is fenced with open top and... bees buzzing around; the last 3 miles of the road is very bad and it will take you approx. 30 minutes - SUV/off road vehicles are strongly recommended; be prepared to pack your trash since there are no trash cans.
This private campground near Big Bear in the San Bernadino National Forest is huge and near great hiking sites and off-roading routes. Up to 40 people and eight cars are allowed on this campground and you need to reserve your date and pay the fee ahead of time. I believe the fee is $200-$300 for Friday-Sunday.
There is a beautiful meadow, a pond, and a small mountain just adjacent to the campground. At the campground there is a fire pit, picnic tables and a non-potable water source.
The reason for taking off a star:
The restroom is an open-top fenced-in enclosure with a toilet seat that has a hole under it. It was pretty disgusting, but most of us took a hike and a shovel into the woods to do our dirty business.
Overall, a great campground with nice surroundings! Highly recommended.
