10 STARS-- THE PERFECT TEN. FIVE STARS ARE FULLY ACCOUNTED FOR by the Carlsbad PD professionals--whether we own up to it or not. Each and every day our laws are enforced. The city crime statistics reflect the city's factual reality. As an every day citizen it is important to me to be fair.

The additional five stars can fade in and out and be individually wobbly at times. These Five Stars only we everyday ordinary citizens can materialize and earn--demonstrating we really care about our own safety, the safety of others, and the safety of Carlsbad PD and FD. We need to lock our doors, windows, and cars--every time. We need to never verbally say door lock codes because criminals use technology, too. We need to keep noticing odd things.

My list --to excel in regards to: "WHEN SOMETHING IS HAPPENING--CALL" is a) "See something, Say something". b) Call--maybe I alone saw something no one else saw or will see in future c)"Call--WHAT I don't know --is impt., too." d) Call: someone else may feel "too alone" to do it. e) Call, "following my guts. Criminals act differently with different people. f) Call ---I may be the only one who calls in the long run. g) Call --maybe the person who needs to call---can't. h) Always--Always--Follow-My-Guts.
If to anyone else, the situation appears silly or whatever other opinion--the person isn't being fair. I am the one in the situation. The other person isn't in my shoes. Only the wrongdoer/ criminal will be winning every single time from the situation. It's not PD's fault, either.

My five stars to the police---is in testament to the number of diverse citizens who give their best efforts to call. I personally need to improve: "H". Bad people rely on weakness. 5+5=10 stars reflecting we care for our safety.
    BTW--not to miss ! #wheresKash #taketimetosmelltheflowers

Police officers go home, thinking they saw the worst case in their career; then there is an unfathomable one of another type. I am an every day Carlsbad resident. Life experience: I can factually say the people at Carlsbad Police Department are ultimately one of a kind. Also, the entire North County law enforcement works together well— in ways not routinely seen throughout California. Understaffing, funding, inconsistent management increasingly have impacted other communities in our state. It matters when police professionals prove they can competently handle or prevent the variety of today's type of situations. It hasn't been multiple magical wands at work: but years, decades of outstanding leadership and commitment at the top and from the top and throughout to create a dept like CPD. To me, it appears, Carlsbad tax money for decades has always been invested wisely to the highest caliber. CPD reflects best practices in place: quality of who is hired; the requirement to keep up on specializations and in-depth training, and the specific priority focus on funding/finances all adds up. Visually seeing the police around us not only means we are protected, but, also that he/she officer loves what they do or else would not be doing it. Not everyone is the same. Not everyone has had the same or similar experiences in life. But, one thing is a certainty: policing never has been an easy job. Here in Carlsbad, we are surrounded by the best in a highest caliber of community in each department. I feel infinitely blessed by the results of decisions and actions of others over the decades by this city government. The residents and citizens knew precisely what they wanted and made sure to help materialize it. Safety and the quality of any public safety department is not something to be taken for granted. The positive and the good surmounts for the benefit of each of us. It makes a priceless difference.

I am a member of Carlsbad CERT, so whenever we are here, we are helping the police train so they can do a better job of protecting and serving Carlsbad residents.

  • One in A Community

The CPD dispatchers who answer the phones have always wanted to help me . Each time, they demonstrated their competency and resourcefulness by giving me specific information I needed in being new to this southern county. The officers I have spoken to --each demonstrated their own personality and individuality—something vital when serving a diverse population of people. I have observed proud and hardworking volunteers, too. Carlsbad is an exceptionally large, while high-quality community. It takes work, attention to detail, commitment, and focus to identify criminal patterns and behaviors specific to a community and to keep crime under tight control. Carlsbad is a very safe community.
We have strong, stable law enforcement throughout this Calif. county. They work very hard to maintain our safety within the complex structure of govt. tiered laws, ordinances, etc. in place.
