    I am a very prior patient of Dr Mertens.
    in 1981-82.
    I have nothing but the utmost respect for her.

    little did I realize way back then at 12-13 years old, she actually treated me as an adult.

    we both knew that I was bipolar, but she told me that I was not totally to blame.

    my mom had issues.

    I fought this all my life but deep down I knew.

    so did my dad ,
    my dad passed 7 months before my mom at 91 years old. 2 years ago.
    mom was only 68.

    my dad remembered Dr Mertens.
    all my life had an issue with my mom.

    Dr. Mertens was brave enough when I was a kid to treat me as an adult.

    why post this now ?
    I am getting closure, finally letting things past go.
    Dr. Mertens is a great doctor. I gotta give kudos WHERE it's due.
