This place has a special space in my heart forever! I think with all the positive energy, love, and babies that have been brought into the world here makes this place feel safe, warm, familiar, and easily a place of release.
Attending Midwife Susan's birthing classes really helped my mind and body call the Tree of Life Birth Center, home. I so badly wanted a home birth but the center was so much better. It's my maternal sanctuary. October 18th, 2014, after communicating with Susan all night, I arrive at the birth center at 2 am. I knew the Moon Room was meant for us. I settle in contracting and utilizing the coping techniques I've learned from birthing classes. Her patience, coaching, softeness and directness was (for lack of better term) an amazing life-line. 2 Hours later, in the warm tub, I deliver my healthy, calm baby boy with a proud, speechless new Daddy gazing deeply over both of us. The room felt so calm, and so full of love. And with similar but unique experiences like that after me that have come and left their marks under the canopy of the Tree of Life, is why I overly recommended and can't wait to have my future babies here and under the care and wisdom of Midwife Susan Melnikov.

I've had two babies at the Tree of Life and I could not be more thankful for the midwives and the experience we've had both times from our first appointment to our babies birthing days. If only more mothers would consider a natural birth... there really is nothing like it, especially when you are in the hands of San Diego's best, most caring midwives. Looking forward to having baby #3 here as well!

Wow is the best word for our experience with Tree of Life. Our son was born here in January of 2018 and 10 months later, we still talk about our experience with his birth (well, I'm sure we will talk about it for the rest of our lives). It's hard to put in words, but his birth at Tree of Life was the best possible experience we could have wished for. He was born into this world surrounded by love, compassion, and a deep sense of nurture. The midwifes here are very special people and I could feel their greater sense of purpose every visit. Susan's birthing classes were incredibly helpful to prepare us for what was to come and then when the day came for our son to be born, thank God we had Tree of Life. His birth would not have felt complete without them. I don't think I would be the dad that I am today without Tree of Life, they created an environment that allowed me to see/feel/experience what it truly means to bring a life into this world. We will be forever thankful for them. We all feel so blessed to have found them. I think that's the best I can do for putting the experience into words, but it can't give the full experience with the midwives, the center, or my son's actual birth full justice.

Wow, where to begin. What an amazing experience. The birthing classes with Susan were informative and gave me the confidence to be emotionally strong through childbirth. Whenever there was a decision to be made they made sure I was fully informed. I was so comfortable in the birth center. Leslie was always caring and compassionate. They assisted me in a safe natural water birth of my son. I'm forever grateful of this place and these women. Thank you! Even better my insurance covered the whole facility cost and Susan worked with me on the cost of birthing classes.
