House of Grace Sundays at 1pm
From out of state. Very friendly place to visit. There’s ample space and good accommodations for people. The music in the English service was good with a good pianist and organist. It was nice to be able to see the words, and it was good to have a cross in styles with contemporary praise songs as well as hymns. The guy who led the service made me feel comfortable to be in the space. The speaker was good, using multimedia. His presentation was well done, well received, interesting, and easy to understand. Before the service, they had good food and fellowship. It was nice that people were able to come to the Sunday school time and the main service, though there was no feeling that someone was an outcast if they only attended one.
This is where I go to church to receive my spiritual food. We have a different style of service then most churches I've attended. Personally I really like it this way compared to other church services. Our lead pastor teaches rather then preaching his sermons.
Praising and worshiping God together in multiple languages has been an awesome experience . Atbthe house of the lord we are one family with one love of Christ.
I work here and love the place. It's a multicultural, trilingual congregation (English, Spanish, & Lao) that was for a time called One in Christ Church but has gone back to the original name of First Baptist Church. This group of local believers cares about God, the good news of Jesus, the Bible, and the church's National City neighbors.
Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. The main Sunday gathering, which is a fairly traditional service, is at 11:00 a.m. There are also midweek Bible studies in the various languages; these are taught by the pastors. The church is affiliated with the American Baptists, which come in all shapes and sizes. These church folks seem to take their faith seriously in a way that seems grounded but not pushy.
If you are looking for a unique, relevant church experience, this may well be the place for you.
