  These people do a great job and don't get the recognition they deserve. The process is efficient and fair and the workers seem to really care about an often ungrateful, entitled, uneducated and unmannered population. I have never had anything but great help from these people, but then again, I bother to say please and thank you and make an effort to comport myself with a modicum of restraint and respect. When it was clear how badly off I was, they even brought me a bag lunch.

  I'm sure describing my experiences here would go well over any set character limits, so I'll say what I can until it stops me lol.
  
  While "stuff" happens and on both sides of the counter with all the windows (but unlike the DMV there are actual windows and now an automated digital voice calling out numbers instead of names) and while I can relate to some of the negative reviews here, that hasn't been my overall experience. My experience has been way more positive.
  
  If you're looking for a great place to go people watching this is definitely my number one go to for watching, listening, and learning. I have overcome ignorance and become way more tolerant and understanding than I ever could have imagined. .not to mention way less judgemental overall except for when it comes to the stuff you end up hearing on Judge Judy in many cases.

  BTW - in my opinion the attitudes and negative complaints people have posted here in their reviews may be how it was but in my opinion and observations the moral has greatly improved over the last few years.
  On one hand though typically any employees working in the government section of offices , whether it be the IRS, Social Security Administration, etc have the stigma of not being "very nice" and I believe there on one hand is /was good reason for it.
  It's called give someone an inch and then they will take a mile.
  And then all the working taxpayers of the Country end up more in more broke and eventually if we all end up broke and in need of welfare and nobody working who is going to foot the bill.
  
  You have to understand that they are not taking advantage of you. But many have taken advantage of the welfare system and abused it, and so how are they to really know your true character. It's not so much 'being mean' as it is the job requires these employees to be more 'neutral'
  However, the change that I have noticed big time is how the health and human services has shifted their whole system over to become more like customer service type attitudes and interactions where the recipients receiving public benefits are now regarded as customers and if you the recipient look at it this way I promise you it will change for the better and you won't have to keep feeling victimized.
