I went to school at John Muir and had a blast with the hands on teaching methodology. The teacher are A+ to their kids
My son has been attending Muir since 1st grade. He will be an 8th grader this year. The teachers for the most part have been phenomenal. Small classes and wonderful learning environment. The Muir Community can not be beat. Muir is our "village" and our children are all well taken care of.
We've been at Muir for a few years now and really like it a lot. Mostly it is because of the solid families. Good people who care about their kids. The school is very small and everyone watches out for everyone - really feels like a family. Excellent academics and great after school programs. Tops scores all around!
The one bad review I see on this page is odd because there is no Miss Tommasino at our school and no one has ever heard of this parent. Something is weird about his review.
This is a brilliant, hidden gem of a school - TK-12 with a focus on building global citizens. The strong international focus comes from the school earning the challenging Paidea certification, which means students are taught using the Socratic seminar method: Students must foster critical and creative thinking, intellectual coaching, active learning and mastery of information. They learn to present ideas publicly, debate, listen actively and take action. This is not a teaching-to-the-test school! In addition to a dedicated staff, there are dozens of bonus programs, from robotics to archery to music to gardening. This is a connected community school, where citizenship matters -- inside the school and out. Small class sizes and an engaged parents make for amazing results! We feel like we found all the benefits of a small, private school at public school prices (free!). We love it here.
This is a lovely K-12 school! There are many clubs, that includes something called peace patrol. Peace Patrol is a club that supports other children in "Fitting in." There is also something called the "Muir-a-thon" It's when everyone in the whole school draws a picture that represents our school, then we walk/run 3 miles for donations. There is full support for students that don't really understand things in class, and personally I really think the school is great for everyone! It can give you many chances to be who you want to be when ever you want to be it! That's why I give it 5 stars... :-)
