Heritage Park

Beautiful, quiet, and relatively empty. If you can get on the base, I highly recommend this place. There is tons of beach to walk along or swim in and a couple firepits for s'mores.

If you're out of town, check out the cottages! They're right on the beach and pretty affordable for what you get.

Relaxing place with views of downtown

Nice part inside Naval Air Station North Island and Breaker Beach is accessible nearby. However, this recreation area is only accessible to military, retired veterans, Federal employees and their families.

Heritage Park is on base and parking is free and easy. Located on the southwest part, it is a better place to access the beach when the public beach is crowded. We spent two hours there. From 6pm to 8pm. Not too many people and vehicles that evening !
