I've been going here since I was a kid, 50 some years. Great surfing spot. Large rock formations are dramatic when they're visible. Sometimes during the year the rocks are under the sand. The shore break and strong rip current can be a challenge. Keep a close eye on the kids. Parking can be a challenge during busy times. Very small parking lot so you'll probably have to find a spot on one of the residential streets.
Great little beach. Lots of rocks onshore that make it more than your standard sandy beach.
Stay and watch the sunset from here, don’t leave right after the sun sets. Stick around for 30 mins or so for an even more spectacular show and colors.
First time visiting on Labor Day Weekend. Was not very crowded for a holiday weekend. Also a great photo spot!
Beautiful secluded beach to take in the view! Far enough away from the tourist location of the tide pools. If you don't have swimwear or intention to surf, you can just sit on the rocks and not get sandy or the benches.
Beautiful spot in La Jolla, even for those who don't surf! I really enjoyed just sitting on the rocks and watching the surfers and all the other activity that happens in the ocean. One morning I went to the beach early and saw dolphins. Highly recommend stopping here at least once, if only for the sightseeing and surfer-watching.
The rocky shore of Windansea Beach is perhaps best known for its beautiful scenery and surf breaks created by underwater reefs. Much of Windansea experiences moderate to severe shore break, a condition on steep beaches which results in hard breaking surf right at the shoreline.
