Take a class with John Q, change your whole life! My first class with John was in 2016, while he was still on the East coast. It was also the first practice of my yoga journey - and now 4 years later, i've never turned back. That particular day, I entered the class in the midst of an internal storm, an emotional tumult, so to speak - reeling from both a breakup and a funeral in the span of 24 hours! John's intelligence of the practice, his inclusivity of all levels and his quirky personality set me at ease, and allowed me the space, I didn't even know i needed, to move beyond my present dis-ease and to use my mind and movement with intention to find a deeper meaning in the all of it. Four years later, I've never forgotten the way i felt when i left that class - like everything was going to be alright. Do your life a solid, and take John's class :-)
John is a gifted yoga teacher and an amazing human being. He is comfortable being silly and light hearted while also being deeply spirited and sincere. This combination makes each class a fresh and fun experience. He has this powerful way of encouraging his students to try new yoga moves in a gentle, positive manner. I leave his classes feeling properly challenged (physically) and spiritually rebooted! He is a real gem of a teacher.
John is a great teacher and, I always enjoy the way he plans his classes. I have the chance to take his Friday classes on a regular basis as well as attended one of his SoCal retreats.
What I like the most about John as a teacher are: 1) his low key/ego attitude, 2) the way he plans his classes (make sense from beginning to end) and, 3) ultimately the way you feel after the class is over.
In addition to the constructive flow, breath work and positive messages, I particularly appreciate the rehab/prehab component. Give this former New Yorker a chance and, you will not be disappointed whether on a private or broader class setting.
I've been doing yoga for decades now, but had drifted away from practicing for awhile. When the craving hit to get back to yoga, I decided on a private instructor instead of studio classes.
John has been hands down one of the best teachers I've ever worked with. He's very knowledgeable with different styles of yoga and has an excellent understanding of body mechanics. He's so respectful and has such a professional teaching style, but is also very fun and joyful. His ability to tailor my practice to what I'd like to focus on is perfectly balanced with some challenges (otherwise I can never be trusted to do any core work).
Whether we are reaching for the sky with powerful standing poses, or doing some restorative Yin, John brings such a genuinely good energy and devotion to teaching. His practice space is private, peaceful, and has a lovely canyon view. I'm so grateful to have found him!
John is a wonderful teacher. His joy and passion are contagious. He highly respects and honors the practice but brings a light and playful attitude in his teachings. His classes are fun and meaningful.
