  I’m from the southwest, and I have not been able to find a decent bbq spot since I’ve moved to San Diego, until now. Their brisket is like butter, no knife needed, melts in your mouth with a perfect tangy sweet sauce that is neither too thick or too thin. The baby back ribs were the perfect combination of meaty, yet still fall off the bone. By far the best yams I’ve ever had that paired well with the tender collard greens. Such an authentic Texas style bbq. It’s a family owned joint and they welcome you in to the restaurant as if you were a member of the family. Hospitality, 5 stars. Food, off the charts. I will definitely be returning.
  For all you millennials, the decor is filled with memorabilia, photos, paintings of African American icons. I especially love the Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis items, being a jazz fan. Indoor and outdoor dining. Perfect for the beautiful sunny weather we always have.

  Home cooking Family atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff. Professional courteous staff. Great food!

  I am so glad this restaurant opened! I got a rib plate and some sweet potato pie and both were delicious! The place is family operated and they make you feel very comfortable and like you're related. Take a look at the artwork and you will surely feel a wave of nostalgia. The ambiance is as upbeat as the background playlist. I will be back!

  Great BBQ, leagues better than "The BBQ Pit". Got the full rack with 1 side, was a little disappointed they were out of greens. Got baked beans instead, didn't try those till I got home. But, damn those beans were awesome, best baked beans ever. Oh and the ribs were great too, had a great smokey flavor. - Brent
