The Beach Cottages

We checked in and went right to our room. Nice size sweet with tiny kitchen, desk, and patio with view of the beach. There is NO A/C at this hotel, but they say so right in the room description so we opened the door to the patio and the breeze cooled the room perfectly. Plus- we found 2 fans in the closet just in case. A perfect little beach getaway.

We had the 2nd level ocean view. The room was comfortable, the staff was very nice and helpful. Room was very clean. Lots of dining options within walking distance.

Very nice hotel! RIGHT on the beach, in the middle of everything (bars, restaurants, shops) but you can ask for a quiet room and you won't hear a thing from the outside! Amenities are very old but they kind of give this special charm to the place :) And everything works perfectly.

This is probably my favorite place to stay in San Diego. I raised my son in La Mesa but moved when he was in high school so i split my time between San Diego and there and have explored many places around town over the four years of spending a couple months a year in San Diego. As often as possible i book here. Reasons why,

1. Excellent and friendly customer service and I believe privately owned.
2. Security out by the entrance and parking lot
3. Parking lot is secured and video taped and again security— it’s the beach, people drink and you never know what you will run into at night if you make a quick trip to the car — this place feels safe..
4. Location location location!! LOCATION !!! I rented their front cabin once and you can people watch behind the living room window all day long and watch the sunset… if the window were open you could nearly touch people. So so so many great shops and restaurants within steps-Literally… Ralph’s grocery store and cvs one block away.
5. So many extras… charcoal grills. Electric grills, shuffleboard, ping pong i think, firepit,
6.. price is so reasonable and better then most locations down here.

Beach beach beach beach beach- so many shops close by to rent you beach supplies as well.

I hope I’m not forgetting anything…

Oh. I stayed at crystal pier a year ago and while the actually cottage is cute and experience was cool— their service is dreadful. Stay here over that place any day…

Oh and the actual cottage is awesome!! I love having a full kitchen as i have friends there and i can contribute to potlucks and just throw cookies in for the kids anytime.. fresh baked nestle at the beach…
