Very nice and brand new too. Staff is great and the area is awesome.
New hotel, shuttle a bit unreliable unless headed to the airport. Otherwise quite clean and pleasant. Good location.
Was really nice experience clean very nice room the only thing missing was a hot tub after a 10-hour Drive
Good customer service from the front desk and the trolley driver's I love it I will be back for my next vacation
Opened mid-March, I stayed the first week of April. This place definitely still has that "new hotel smell"; the hotel was very clean, very nicely styled, and has all the "modern" Hilton amenities like outdoor firepits. The staff was friendly and helpful, even the newer personnel who were clearly still training.
Pros:
-Location, location, location - walkable to Liberty Station and all its excellent restaurants, free shuttle to the airport (basically a 5 minute trip), and easy access to Harbor Drive, Pacific Highway, I-5, and I-8 to get anywhere else.
-Noise level - you would have no idea you were right next to an airport if you didn't watch the planes taking off from your window. Seemed to be good sound insulation between rooms as well.
-Parking - plenty of spots available, even with the prospect of the adjacent Marriott opening next. The cost is low for San Diego ($15), but there is still a cost.
Cons (relatively minor, all construction based):
-My shower door wouldn't stay closed for more than 30 seconds, which was rather frustrating.
-The bathroom fans are loud and there's no way to turn them off. Easily mitigated by sliding the heavy barn-door bathroom door closed, but still.
-There is already wear showing in some places, such as peeling wallpaper around bathroom pipe inserts.
One thing that would be nice to see as this hotel comes of age would be some sort of evening social hour, to encourage the use of the nice outdoor firepits and lounge areas. Seems to be nothing inviting people to hang around in these spots at the moment, but they are still a good spot to have an evening drink and enjoy the sunset. It would also be nice to see a San Diego beer selection in their lobby store instead of just the light-beer staples, but that's a super minor comment since Trader Joe's, Von's, and BevMo are pretty close by.
Overall, would stay here again. I already have a reservation made for my next stay, actually. Looking forward to seeing the surrounding area develop a bit more.
