It's better than the Austin, TX airport for food. The gate section I went to for American Airlines in San Diego had a Jack in the Box so I could get breakfast for under $8 that would fill me up for several hours versus a $19 burrito meal in Austin with a burrito the size of a large egg roll, small drink, and small side that would leave me hungry.
Security was efficient and I was almost instantly given a pat down without having to wait 5-10 minutes like other airports.
First time at this airport. Very spacious and airy. Very modern architecturally. I always have to mention the bathrooms. Women bathroom spacious and each stall had two hooks with ample space for your luggage. The doors are pretty close to the floor. You have to bend down to see any feet. Not a big deal if you're flexible. I didn't check any luggage but it was easy to find baggage claim. We did get a rental so had to take the shuttle. There is a queue to the rental center which is about 7 minutes away. I want to shout out to Linda. She made our quick trip go faster. She led us in some sing a longs and tongue twisters. One passenger teased her with "Irish wrist watch". That one is hard! It was a good end to our trip.
This airport is in one of the most scenic locations. Palm trees, mosaics, art, and beautiful sunshine are all incorporated into the airport. It's been recently renovated with more corridors and cultural objects in cases. The bathrooms are very well maintained and there are plenty of them throughout the airport. Almost all of the vendors have reopened since the city started opening up again. This isn't the worst place to be waiting on a flight by far.
No traffic.Few passengers.New contactless check in and baggage handlung
