  This is also known by mariners as the "Customs Dock". If you depart San Diego by sea, and make landfall in Mexico, and then come back to San Diego, then you must tie up at the Customs Dock first before proceeding anywhere else. There is a courtesy telephone located up the dock. Simply follow the dialing instructions and a customs officer will drive out (usually from San Diego airport) and perform the necessary customs duties while you are tied alongside.
  Naturally, this dock is also where the Harbor Police keep their rigid inflatable vessels. Consequently, please follow the painted instructions on the dock or face a parking ticket! The dock also is one of San Diego bay's public pump out locations. Consequently it can get a little busy in the summer time. Take note there is also a public restroom at the top of the dock along with limited free car parking. Naturally, at the top of the dock is the Harbor Patrol office which is manned all hours of the day.
