The best mechanic I've managed to find in San Diego. They came recommended to me by a co-worker of mine, and they've never let me down. Their prices are excellent, and they are both efficient, and prompt! Highly recommended.
Great service, reliable and trustworthy. They have saved us money on multiple occasions by identifying a problem other than what I thought, and the fix was much cheaper.
They communicate mainly via text, which I find extremely convenient. Nancy is very responsive, and answers questions within minutes.
Honest mechanic will treat you and your car right
My family and I have been going to SVA for all of our cars for at least the last 20 years. Nancy and David are fair, honest and give the most reasonable pricing that you can find anywhere. Support local businesses and give them a try, you will not regret it.
On Thurs, the front L wheel on my 2003 Highlander started making rubbing noises with vibrations. Increased with speed. Drove car Fri AM, and it was louder. Figured I needed it looked at ASAP. Googled for car repair places fairly close to my home. Didn’t want to take it to a Shell, but saw Sorrento Valley Automotive was just 20 min away. Lots of good reviews, so gave them a call. They agreed to squeeze me in. Family-run shop, 30+ years. He fixes the cars, and wife Nancy (delightful! Felt like I’d known her for years…we chatted about fruit trees!) runs the front. Dropped it off, and was called a couple of hours later… wheel bearing bad, $550. OK. (they did not try to tell me the brakes pads should be changed… I’d looked at them a few weeks ago, and they were OK).
Went in to pick up car 4 hours later, and when I walked in, Nancy said “well, there’s an issue with the bill”. (OK, here it comes). Turns out Toyota has unusual wheel bearings that aren’t all one solid piece. After taking it apart, only 1 part was going bad, and the others were fine… now bill only $200. Let me get this straight… you could have just replaced the whole thing and charged me $550, but you put extra work into taking it apart, to lower the repair costs! WOW. Life-long customer.
