We ordered 11oz NY steaks and weren’t disappointed. The bread, salad and vegetables were a great warm up; they didn’t skimp on the Tanguray and Tonic; and the service was terrific. The steaks and baked potatoes weren’t fancy but tasted great. Ambiance was awesome with great bar conversation, light music, friendly service by Chris and the lady tending bar. Can’t wait to try the Irish Cream cheesecake with Baileys on top.
The Red Fox Room is a throwback to another era, with room for 4 or 5 people in the high-backed, plush booth seating around the perimeter of the dining room, as well as tables available for groups of two to four diners. This place makes me think of old Chicago, dark leather upholstery, dimly-lit, and if you're there at the right time live music streaming from the bar beyond the room partition.
Very cool, very romantic, great place for a date, beats the heck out of a restaurant chain experience. I had a delicious cocktail, my date and I shared a bottle of wine from the not-too-deep winelist, and our steaks were good, but not excellent.
Overall a nice experience!
Food was great, service was excellent! Server was Cynthia. I feel like you definitely get enough food for the price. Relish tray, garlic cheese toast, salad and entree with a side. So Yummy!
Absolutely charming piece of San Diego's history. Walking in the door is like stepping back in time to a place from your imagination of what a dusty old steakhouse should have looked like. Floor to ceiling wood paneling with hand carved accents which invite you into this museum of classic steakhouse fare and lounge digs. Menu is straight to the point, service is authentic and welcoming. Do yourself a favor and get a table here, sit back, enjoy the time warp, and knock back a few martinis.
