This place is awesome and we are really going to miss it. The fried chicken (chook) sandwich is the way to go and you can't go wrong with any of the house beers! My current favorite is the Mt. Doominator.
We found out recently that we were moving out of town and tried to decide what spots we were going to go before leaving. This was the first one on our list. The open air, dog friendly rooftop with extensive heat lamps and an awesome beer menu without all the fuss of downton is awesome. Service has consistently been great and it's apparent from the attitude of everyone that works there that they are likely treated well.
Over the last 2 years I've had the burger with it's wonderful sweet and savory caramelized onions, the lamb tacos and fries, the fried chicken sandwich, my wife and mines favorite and the salmon salad. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Each options is carefully crafted and excellent in its own right. Being latino and my wife being cajun, we just can't help ourselves and keep coming back to the chicken sandwich.
Such a fun concept, very interesting food and approach to beer. I had no idea that NZer's brewed. Really a beautiful space with a great rooftop patio that is great for parties. I look forward to coming back here soon!
Really fresh, tasty, good quality food! A good variety on the menu as well as some yummy beers. Friendly staff, quick service and reasonable prices, what else can you ask for?!
You have a choice of sitting on the roof/patio with some nice views of University Heights or indoors if it's getting a bit chilly out. We were also impressed by the high-tech bathrooms :)
Highly recommend the fish and chips as a side for the beer, or the Kairoa vegan bowl if you want something healthy.
Altogether a delightful place, highly recommended. We'll be back!
LOVE the food here! Top notch for “bar” food. The outdoor seating upstairs is so cute and lots of room. They have outdoor fireplaces and lounging areas. The fries are some of the best I’ve had in San Diego. They have several drafts including wine and beer. I enjoyed a spritzer with white wine.
Great choices of beer and kombucha. I’ve been About the booch life recently and this place has some options. The fish and chips are a staple option and the burrito was fantastic with lamb. They did a decent job with spacing during Covid, though I’m sure they could do more but there are limitations. The rooftop is where you’d want to eat
