Great doctor! Very friendly and patient with answering questions. Office staff is fantastic. Never dread having to visit his office.
I was looking for an optometrist the day after 4th of July because I had gotten some debris in my eye from the fireworks. My eye was red, irritated and it felt like something was in it even after flushing it out w/water. I don’t have vision insurance so I was worried about the cost but I also didn’t want to gamble on my eye getting potentially worse or infected. I’m grateful to Dr. Phung’s office for squeezing me in on a moment’s notice. It only took Dr. Phung 10 minutes to see there was a scratch on my eye and prescribe antibiotics. He is very personable and funny. I only paid $65 and follow-ups were free. I highly recommend him. I will be coming to him for my future eye appointments.
Highly recommend! My family and I have been coming to Dr. James Phung Optometry for many years. Dr. Phung greats me with a smile every time and asks me how I’ve been. Prices is SUPER reasonable as well.
I normally call in for an appointment, but have been seen the same day when I had an emergency case of pink eye. On top of that, turns out I had an allergic reaction to the medication. Dr. Phung continued to see me without extra charges until I was better!

I never know whether to believe 5-star reviews online. I also never really review anything. In this case the reviews are true, so much so that I am compelled to write my own. I just got back from an appointment with this guy - he exceeded my expectations. Didn't think I'd ever have such a pleasant experience having an eye exam. Agreeable, funny, a great conversationalist...and most importantly, genuinely cares about serving your eyes the best he can. Highly recommended.
This little gem is hidden inside the Wal-Mart. I expected to be processed swiftly by a cheap Optometrist, but received a refreshing surprise. Both Dr. Phung and his assistant were very friendly and helpful and they give you that old-school family practice feel. My readings were done with great accuracy and Dr. Phung even gave me a referral for an Ophthalmologist as my eye pressure is towards the higher side. I didn’t feel pressured to choose a specific contact lense brand, in fact, I was given several to try until I felt completely comfortable. Be sure to make an appointment first as the practice does get a bit busy at times.
