Hyde Street Pier

I won't say this place isn't for locals, it's for everyone that want to know more about ships from the past. Kids may like it if they can get their hands-on experience. Bring binoculars and bundle up, it gets colder by the hour in the evening. I come here to self meditate or when I need quiet time to finish up report. Be careful where you park as break-in are rampant in the city no matter where you are.

Great interpretive exhibits for children to teach them about maritime history, and a lot of fascinating museum ships and displays.

A fun place to see old ships and history. Also a good view of Alcatraz and the bridge.

What I don't understand is why people are giving this place 1-star reviews? Sure, I get it. It costs $$ to visit these sorts of places. But here's the thing: preserving history isn't free or even cheap. I got to speak with an awesome volunteer that let us into his workshop on the Eureka where he restores model ships. It was freaking awesome. Plus these ships on display are a slice of Americana. Not the Kerouac sort but more Twain. Worth the money. Come visit a slice of Americana. We could all use some right about now.
