    I am executor for a medium-sized estate. The deceased was a smoker who hoarded trash and recycling. The family property in Walnut Creek was in AWFUL condition - filthy house, holes in the roof, structural damage, abandoned cars in the yard, nothing but weeds and overgrowth. It took my team (including an excellent handyman who specializes in downsizing and estate cleanup) months of hard, sustained work to remove the garbage on the property, remove dead trees, and have the cars towed away. I spoke with several good agents who, after touring, all gave me roughly the same property touch-up suggestions and pricing. I was referred to Andrew de Vries by my CPA. Andrew's estimate was on par with the other two agents who toured and consulted, but I'm glad I chose him.

    My VERY positive experience with Andrew:
    1) He has the resources to get the last of the cleanup done at a reasonable rate, with reliable, bonded, insured contractors.

    2) He had the "eye" to see problems I didn't see, and present the property in its best possible light. I was afraid that putting more work in was putting "lipstick on a pig" but in truth, that javalina needed a little kiss of blush. Andrew had a professional photographer take pictures that were honest about the damage in the house, yet well-composed and lit to highlight its potential. He even had his photographer shoot a drone video of the property - which showed not only the property itself, but also some of the neighborhood's charms.

    3) Andrew has a ton of experience with distressed estates, and showed me the portfolio for another estate he'd recently sold. It gave me confidence that he could get the property sold for a fair price.

    4) He works REALLY hard and clearly loves his job, because no matter what, with this incredibly complicated property sale, he was positive and encouraging even when there were setbacks nobody could foresee. He is friendly, chipper, professional, and doesn't mince words if there's a problem. He's very energetic and always quick to communicate when I have questions or concerns.

    5) When we initially consulted, I gave him what seemed like a realistic but somewhat arbitrary date that was sentimental to me. Even though there were several unexpected delays (my finding someone to do car removal, schedule conflicts with cleanup folks, etc.) and despite that the Covid19 shutdowns were just beginning, he met that date within a few days, to put the house on market. Real estate transactions were still permitted, and he managed to have several open houses in the two week period, with tons of promotion in multiple listing services. Since it was an estate, the property sale was limited to cash, so we needed a qualified buyer with money in the bank. Considering that limitation, we did great. I think it was Andrew's immense energy that got us 18 bids, some well below our asking price, but about half well above it! I was astonished since I expected maybe 3 or 4 at the most, but he had the experience to see the property for its true worth.

    6) Andrew gave good guidance (within the law) as to the bids he evaluated as most viable and attractive. All of the documents were signed electronically, and Old Republic Title (who also had to deal with Contra Costa County office complications!) helped us get the sale closed as promptly as possible.

    If you need to sell a property in the SF Bay Area, whether distressed or pristine and high end, I strongly recommend Andrew de Vries.

    Regarding Andrew DeVries

    We recently sold our family home. Our parents purchased the home in 1962/63. The sale of the property was personally very difficult because I have lived in the home the last 21 years. I have so many great memories of growing up there and graduating high school in that neighborhood.
    The sale required that Andrew work with three sellers. Andrew talked with each of us individually and collectively. Andrew maintained contact with the three of us on an ongoing basis providing constant updates, and estimates for third party services. Andrew was thorough, meticulous, timely, accurate, patient, and supportive.
    Andrew provided a team of workers to complete necessary repairs, painting, yard upgrades, hauling, and removed the existing carpet. The carpet removal revealed the beautiful hardwood floors!
    Andrew coordinated all necessary inspection reports to meet potential contingencies of the buyer’s contract. Andrew then contacted a company to beautifully “stage” the property.
    After the pre-determined period to show the home was completed, we immediately received 4 offers. I am very pleased with Andrew’s work and I highly recommend his services.
    As I previously said, this was a very emotional separation for me. I trusted Andrews’s expertise throughout the entire process.

    We are very thankful that we had Andrew sell our house. We hired him as he has sold countless houses in the area, knows the local real estate markets, and has a highly successful process and contractors at his disposal. His marketing experience and plan lead to more than 80 prospective buyers viewing our home in person, and we received multiple offers on the offer date. He was very professional in all our dealings and a wonderful negotiator. Whenever there was a decision to make, and there were many, he would provide us with options and recommendations based on experience. As we don't sell homes often, we had to trust Andrew’s suggestions at many turns and at the end of the day he sold our house for more than even we expected. I have already recommended Andrew to co-workers and friends. We also have another property that we inherited and we will list it with Andrew.
