The beach is awesome. Clean and always beautiful.
The wilderness is just a bus ride away.
If you're looking for a paved coastline hike or a walk in the sand, this place is for you. The pathway from the street has a long stretch of walkway that you can keep your feet and shoes sand free and opens up to the beach with a good amount of distance between the walkway stairs and the waterline (depending on time of year). It's beautiful no matter where you are walking and the sunset is hard to beat. Just be careful crossing the street to the walkway as traffic is fast. Use the crosswalks please.
I almost broke my foot on this trail. It hurt for a week and I had to use a cane but the view and hike were so nice it didn't matter. 10/10 would hike again.
Winter solstice, full moon, low tide with lots of crab fisherman, surfers and other people walking slowly up and down the beach at sunset. What more could anyone ask for. It makes you kind of glad you live in San Francisco sometimes.
