Great place to enjoy excellent food. Service is phenomenal.
Ate here with some friends but I only had the Margherita pizza and shared an appetizer. I do not see the name of the appetizer on the online menu but it had mozzarella, pesto, pickled onions, tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, and bruschetta. I asked for a separate bill (just me). I was charged 20% gratuity. I’ve worked as a server in fine seafood in Santa Barbara and you do not charge 20% gratuity for one guest. Normally, it is 6 or more guests. I read earlier they charge 20% for two or more guests on another review but now we know it’s one! I guess you cannot tip based on what you personally believe the service, ambiance, or experience deserves. Food was good so I rated it 4 stars but I really would take a half a star away if I could because of the gratuity practice. Nice ambiance, and great service, but adding the gratuity to a party of one did not sit well with me.
We had a fabulous experience here last night. The meal was amazing ! We appreciated the great service. The guitar player was excellent, so nice having live dinner music. It wasn’t too loud to interfere with conversation.
We are planning another evening at Fina’s soon.
Fina is just wonderful. The wait staff is very attentive but gives you time to enjoy your night out, they are all so very kind and professional. We never felt rushed but always had refills on our drinks at the right time and had the occasional check in when was appropriate. Our meal was outstanding all around, as always. (We have eaten here several times since they opened.) The building is beautiful inside and out, and the photos you see around are of family, which is so very sweet. One thing I really appreciate is that during the night John Surla (owner, proprietor, and head chef) comes out of the kitchen and talks to just about everyone dining. You don't experience that much anymore, and it's really awesome. If you haven't tried Fina, please do.
