I'm an adult student who have learned from Mrs Xiao for 4 months. I have progressed very fast since I started with Mrs Xiao. I have almost finished two Level 1 books: Alfred Adult all in one and Faber Adult all in one. I practiced 1 hour every day. Mrs Xiao gives me a lot of guidance on notes reading, playing skills and how to treat pieces differently. I can feel that I have learned a lot during the 4 months study, comparing to the first 4 months where I'm exploring by myself to self taught music theory and notes reading. Now I decide to extend my lesson time from 45 mins to 1 hour so that I can progress faster as my new year resolution of 2019.

8 years ago, when my oldest daughter was 9-year-old, she transferred from other piano teacher to Cheryl. At that time, my daughter played piano without any passion and no skill at all even she had learned piano for many years. But couple years after been taught with Cheryl, my daughter voluntarily took piano test and passed ABRSM with distinction honor. Now my daughter, 17-year-old high school student, is a part time piano teacher. She is enthusiastic with playing and teaching piano. And after she became piano teacher, she just realized (especially when students transfer from other teacher) how much Cheryl taught her: very solid basic foundation, hands position, tempo, sight-reading and details of every single piece of music.

My other kids, 11-year-old and 9-year-old, also learn piano with Cheryl for 5 and 3 years respectively. Although Cheryl has very high standard but she is quiet nice and patient. She never forces kids take piano test or participate any competition. My kids enjoy the piano class very much. In addition, they can discuss with the teacher about what they want to play because Cheryl is open-minded. I can see their big progresses year after year. And the most important thing is: Cheryl let them know how to appreciate music.

I highly recommend Cheryl . She is an excellent piano teacher and also a fantastic pianist. I am so happy to have her as my kids’ teacher. Not only my kids, but also myself learn a lot from her lessons!
