(October 2, 2018, 3:28 pm)The trail begins with a long gradual ascent and then gets steeper about halfway into the hike. There is plenty of shade during the steeper part of the climb. There are a couple of pictures of tables up at the pond or you can sit on the old stone wall. This is a good family hike. You can see redwood trees and also learn a little California history.
