It's crazy that such a rural place exists so close to SF. Deborah and Dennis were welcoming and warm and their ranch was perfect for our family reunion. There were ten of us who had traveled from all over the US and ranged in age from 20-88 -- many needs to fill. I'm not usually a B&B fan -- I don't like making polite conversation with strangers while eating from a fancy doily plate before I've had my coffee. That's not how this felt. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Deborah was on hand when we needed her but otherwise, we felt like it was our space. The Reis' took us on a tour of their 600-acre property, served great breakfasts, organized a wine tasting at our request and were never too busy to help make our stay special (for example, hauling kayaks to the river for us when the tide was perfect). Kayaking, horses, egrets, swans, rolling hills for runs and biking, brilliant night stars and not another house in sight. We had planned on spending time in Petaluma but didn't want to leave paradise to sit in a loud restaurant saying "What did you say?" to each other. So both nights we bbq'd on the big deck, overlooking the Petaluma River, telling old stories and laughing. I can't recommend this place enough.

I’m not sure it’s possible to adequately describe the whole experience at Reis Ranch, but here’s a try...
From the moment you pull off the main road and watch the amazing landscape evolve, to the most charming greetings from Deb, Dennis and Meghan, to the excitement of climbing on one of their beautiful horses... this place, these kind folks, this whole place just aches “authentic“ (and welcoming)!
Whether you’re here to learn from clearly one of the most learned and thoughtful horsemen alive, or you’re simply looking to escape to another time... look no further.
Don’t get me wrong - this isn’t some kitschy “Old West” dude ranch... this a real place - worked and hosted by real people who obviously love their lives, their trade and their land. ...take my word for it - my soul feels lucky (and humbled) to have been invited in.
Thank you to the Reis’s for sharing.
...your lessons on riding, communication, and spirit will continue to be applied to more than just the obvious.

Reis River Ranch was a surprising bit of heaven. Kayaking in the early morning, hiking around the acreage among the cows and horses, and hot breakfast while enjoying the serene views. We came for a work retreat and worked a lot. The space was great for team building and for working together in small teams. Next time I come though, I'll plan to spend more time relaxing and enjoying the freedom from city life. Deborah and Dennis were beyond amazing hosts. 5 stars for sure!

Deborah and Dennis were awesome. This place was a welcome surprise. Felt like you are miles from nowhere, but you're only 5 minutes from Petaluma. Was great for our off-site company meetings.
