Friendly neighbors on the beach the only thing is PCH is buzzing around right behind you but if you're not super sensitive to sounds then the ocean tide helps drown it out. Enjoyed making a bonfire nightly and waking up on the beach in our tiny two man tent. Bench and firpit are complimentary in the $35/night stay if you want quieter perhaps Sycamore campground we just visited didn't stay there.

Oceanfront, beautiful, 12'x31' spots and yes, spots are close together but it's gorgeous so it's fine. The highway is also on the other side of you, so it's not camping for silence/seclusion. Porta potties only, no cell service (I heard the repeaters were burned and are being repaired, so YMMV). Being beachfront is this spot's jam.

Note that, at least at the time of our visit (early Jan, 2019) the sites on the left side facing the ocean, so the lower numbered sites, had about a 6' berm down to the water and where the waves came in was all rocks, not sand. Had we been there during warmer weather, we would have been bummed about the berm and the rocks. The higher numbered sites don't have this issue. I didn't exactly count at which site # the rocks/berm ended, but maybe in the high teens/low 20s? The photo with our dog shows the berm/rocks, we're sitting and he's laying a few feet from the edge of the berm.

Another very curious thing I've never experienced before is that you can reserve a specific site online (we did) and when you arrive, they tell you it's not site specific and since someone is in site xx that you (thought you) reserved, they'll move you to site xy. The one they chose for us was next to and downwind from a porta-potty shed, so we went to another open site and let them know, which they were fine with. There was a sign saying they will be going to site specific in April so perhaps this was just a winter/offseason oddity. There was no mention whatsoever on the reservation system nor on the state park website. Just be aware if you're heading there before April and you've reserved a site online.

All in all, a gorgeous spot we will hopefully return to at some point!

Camped here for five nights. The ocean front spots are absolutely amazing, offering the calming sounds of the waves crashing onto the beach and amazing sunsets every night. Beach is clean, each site has a fire pit and picnic table. Bathroom facilities consistent of Porta potties, no showers as advertised on the website. We has some back weather during our stay, but the water from the waves never came close to our trailer. If you are camping here with an RV, please note that the water full up and dumpstation is a mile down the road. There are water spigots at the campground, but none of them are threaded.

    Will definitely be back.

High Winds!! It happened to be extremely windy our first day camping, to the point where we couldn't get the tent up. So the attendant suggested we go to the inland portion of the camp site and try again tomorrow. We weren't charged extra, we got a nice spot inland and the next day we had no problem setting up and had a great rest of the weekend. Next time I'll try out a camper instead, it's a gorgeous location and very peaceful!
