Very informational and full of exhibits of flora and fauna. Seems all the locals and campers gather here to share info. I was able to get some great directions and good spots to hike.
I rode my bike from Ventura to the Visitor Center. On this drizzly Sunday morning it was manned by a young woman who wants to be a ranger. As I rode my bike up to the visitor center, I was greeted by about 50 hummingbirds that seemed quite happy to see me. The visitor center has bathroom facilities and they sell water and soft drinks. The young lady that was in charge this day was outgoing and quite knowledgeable about the park. Beautiful oak trees and some pines provide a beautiful canopy. If you are looking for a wonderful place to have a picnic, I thought this area would be great!
Newly Renovated. They do cute little classes here for kids and adults. And they recently recieved a California condor! All the staff are characters also. Will definitely go back.
I suggest visiting this visitor center if you are new to the area. There are displays that show area animals and there are trail maps you can buy. The man who runs it is a character (in a good way!) and will help you with any questions. He amused us with some very funny local stories! The place itself is small but still is a nice introduction. Also there's a bathroom.
