A beautiful scenic hiking trail. It was my fifty year old mother's first time hiking, and she was completely fine. She had such a great time that we're going back only a week later. If you're a beginner, you should have no problem if you know how to walk.
The trail isn't too steep like Griffith Park's trail. I do recommend though to wear shoes with a good grip because you might just skid on the gravel going downwards, if you're not paying attention to your foot movement. Also, my mother probably wouldn't have had as good of a time if she didn't have her hiking sticks. Id recommend older folks to get some.
Great trail for a hardy hike. I personally love hiking on rocky trails and this trail is particularly rocky - hence the name. Many other great trails terminate along this one making for a lot of potential variation in hikes over time. Popular place for mountain bikers as well.
Great hike when it's not too hot, bring enough water for the hot days, a wind breaker and glasses for the windy cold days, a good invoice of you start from Rocky peak, a longer incline from humming bird trail. You can start or from other areas, I haven't yet! Enjoy and clean up after your dogs.
This is a beautiful trail with great views. NOT for beginners. It's very steep especially in the beginning it eases about 1.5 miles upward by then I was so beat which is a shame because it is quite lovely. There's several rest areas up the way to rest as well and snap great shots looking into Simi valley. Be careful coming down. as steep as it upward it can get slippery coming down. There's very few parking spots at the entrance but on the other side of the freeway is some additional parking.
I just discovered this place and it's exactly what I've been looking for in a trail...some challenges but it's not just zigzagging back and forth up a steep hill forever. Plus there is shade along the trail and a lot of rocks and things to explore off to the sides. Great views and quiet.
