“Came by to sell a few comics, just testing the water mainly u know? Had a few silver cgc 5-7s a few bronze cgc 6s and some other miscellaneous ones. I was really hoping to leave with about $500 but i guess the quality just wasnt there. I ended up taking $150 for the lot because im in a bad spot and need a vehicle and anything helps i guess. On the more positive side of things tho Michael was a knowledgeable, patient and generally just awesome guy. I loved that he laughed at the Confederate flag on one of the issues instead of being offended. He made the whole process of selling these comics enjoyable and rewarding not for the money but for the knowledge i gained today. Thank you Mike! Ill be back soon to show some more of wat i have”

“When I entered Marcus Books (we went there immediately after I flight landed in SF), I felt like I'd arrived home. I approached the front counter and asked the lady behind the desk if she was the owner. Her response, "Yes, I'm one of them." When I told her that I LOVE the bookstore, she said, "It loves you back." What an amazing store, the selection is broad and comprehensive, featuring multiple genres by and about Black ppl. I limited myself to 3 books and nothing else, which was a deal I had to make with myself before entering!! LOL! The feeling of being in a bookshop that's been around since the 1960s is indescribable. “Great location in the Shoppes at Carlsbad. Store is located at the West end of the mall on the second floor. The opposite end as the Regal Cinema. This store is MASSIVE. Coming from NYC most comics and game stores are at a minimum for space. This place is gigantic. Lots of comics, collectibles, Dungeons and Dragons, Board games and anime stuff. Friendly staff walks around as you shop. I’m a huge D&D fan and noticed yesterday they bulked up on their game stuff. They also had individual miniatures for sale in one of the display cases. Huge statues and collectibles in the front display windows really makes this place awesome”

“Pierce college is new and beautiful. It's in the heart of the West San Fernando valley on Victory and Mason near Woodland Hills. There is lots of parking (at least in the evening) and the teachers are professional and knowledgable. California really gets it right with their community college system. From fully online registration to coordinating classes and schedules with other colleges in the district to connecting their curriculum with universities so you are adequately prepared. The tuition is affordable, there are all sorts of free programs from free healthcare to tutoring, etc. I decided to go back to school after earning a BS in Business Finance. I am taking the Programming for Computer Science certificate program. I'm surprised to see how many "older" students there are with similar ambitions. It feel so good to be here.”
