I posted a photo of the hemet lake side during our winter in 2023 Feb.”

“Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Overall, all was good, pretty much what I expected. Sites were decent size. We were at site #7 in the Oak Loop. There was a large tree that provided shade most of the day which was nice. But from about 1-5pm it got pretty toasty until the sun started going down. Just a good idea to do some research on what sites have shaded areas or make sure to bring your own shade. Bathrooms were fine, vaulted toilets, sometimes ran out of toilet paper, but usually filled periodically throughout the day. Camp host was very friendly. And probably about a 20-30 minute drive to town, which was convenient for last minute supplies. There is also a hiking trail just across the main road.”

“Really beautiful place for camping, camp host is very nice and the bathrooms are always clean. Actually 5 star for cleanness, camp host and location. I am only giving 4 stars because camp grounds are not even and it's little difficult to find flat ground for setting up tents. Over all very happy with our experience. We were a group of 24 and we had booked 3 sites”

“What a beautiful hike up Vivian Creek Trail. It was challenging due to how steep it was, not really technical though. The trees are huge and wonderful and the creek adds a serene touch bumping up the visual feels. A must check out hike. The camp sites seemed nice as well with clean bathrooms on site.”

“We stayed here for a week over Memorial weekend. Kids had a blast! There was free rock painting or pay $4 for a bird house (we did bird houses & went to dollar store & bought cheap craft stuff for them to paint) free ice cream on Friday night, free face painting & tattoos Saturday , free pancake breakfast Sunday morning. great memories made!”

“This place is great! Absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of hiking trails with some spectacular views some that overlook the desert (I know a desert view doesn't sound impressive, but believe me when I say, it is indescribable!) and a few more trails that lead to the two nearby lakes, Big Laguna Lake and Little Laguna. All trails are well maintained and relatively flat making them ideal for novice hikers and those with children. The bathroom facilities were the most pristine I have seen an any campgrounds. The camp host were friendly and helpful. Dogs are allowed both in the campground and the nearby trails, but must me kept on a leash at all times. There is potable water for drinking and washing dishes. There are also shower facilities that can be used for a small fee ($1 for 4 minutes) Fires are permitted in fire pits, but you cannot bring your own wood to help avoid the introduction of any foreign insect species. That said the camp host makes several rounds throughout the day with fire wood that can be purchased for $7 a bundle (two bundles last us the night). There is also a nearby general store with basic needs and a small selection of souvenirs. Just down the the street from the store is a restaurant. Admittedly I have never be inside as we were there to camp and get away, but the option is there. All and all, I would highly recommend this location, especially to families with children and pets, but there is something for everyone.”

“We brought our Girl Scout troop here in May of 2017 and had a fantastic time. It was a huge plus for us tired leaders as all the activities and meals were led by the staff. We got to participate and enjoy all the programs with our scouts. All of the staff were so nice and it felt like we were part of a big family. The lodgings were comfortable and the surroundings beautiful. Our girls loved the archery, ropes course, craft time, fishing, fencing, hiking and more. I highly recommend this for troops wanting a weekend camping experience with all the tradition but none of the hassle. A great price for all that is included.”

“Great park, but there's a lot of people that just don't respect the park or the rules. Don't know why but people for some reason don't know how to use the bathroom properly and the work crews have a hard time keeping them clean. Please be respectful so the park can stay great. Thank you”

“Rode the dirt bike track with my son today, it was a lot of fun, I could tell it was worked on some since the last time I was there, It could use a little groming, but for a small track, it has a variety of turns hills curves jumps etc. Makes for a great, exciting, exhilarating, day of riding. Recomended, has restrooms, park benches and plenty of parking for trailers, as well.”

“Very nice tucked away camp ground fairly easy to get too and a short drive from Clovis. The gate is only open from dawn to dusk though so keep that in mind when coming here. This is a managed Campground also with a administrator on site who was friendly but not overly strict like other site admins have been in the past. Dave I think his name was. Me and a few friends stayed here for 3 nights during the week and we were the only people here the entire time which was great. Really enjoyed the lake and scenery. For us it was 30$ a day for the group because we had 3 cars with the site being I think 20$ a night Lots to do nearby also with hiking and another smaller lake up in the hills nearby which gives amazing views of the lake itself! Not much firewood available on the ground as the place is well kept so make sure to plan ahead and bring your own firewood otherwise you'll be mostly stuck with damp rotting wood haha”

“I want to start off by saying thank you to the wonderful people at quail valley. They made our stay so awesome and really enjoyable. People can complain all that they want about prices, but I have camped at many campsites and this has everything you need. No wifi which who cares it’s nature! And also, has plug in for electricity which is honestly a plus. The campsites are very clean and the grass is always nice and cut. Best $75 bucks I have spent! Sometimes the good things in life cost money. Thank you Quail valley my family and I are very grateful and will be looking forward to coming back. California hot springs in general is a great place to be specially in the winter time.”

“We enjoyed camping at their private campground. The campsites were spread out pretty far apart from each other providing enough privacy for campers. We enjoyed some of their homemade food items and also brought some home. We also had a good time at the farm petting goats and looking at chickens and rabbits. The hammock and fire pit provided by the host was very useful!”

“End of March 2023: campground is currently closed while they clean up several down trees and a whole lot of branches that came down in the storms this winter. The bathroom was open though, it was clean but had no TP. No problem since I was actually there to hike all day. The gate was closed to the campground and we parked outside. We took the trail behind the campground all the way up to Sierra Madre road where there was snow and cold wind. The first part of the trail had many stream crossings, some of which were too wide to keep feet dry, though not deep. There were also several areas of blow down. For maybe 50 yd there would be numerous small or large trees across the trail. Some areas were very dense, and required crawling under or climbing over branches. I assume they had wind bursts during the storms. After that when we got to the open spot that has a fire circle in it (about 2 miles) we had lunch. Then we headed up the trail to the left to Sierra Madre road and that trail was in excellent condition. Quite beautiful views. I would love to come back in the spring or fall and camp at Aliso Park Campground.”

“I've gone to Emerald Bay multiple years with my sons and their boy scout troop. What a great experience! The staff, facilities and food ("Fruit Punch! Haven't had it? Haven't lived.") are great, but the best part was the focus on living the scout law and extra opportunities than just the merit badge classes. Our troop has loved the values game and the pirate program over the years. We have several "Brigands" and even a couple "Anchormen" now. Also "Ranger Sean!" He remembered our boys by name over several years. If he's not careful he will end up as chief scout executive. Four stars only for two reasons. Difficult to get to and the cost has been prohibitive for some of our scouts. We want all our boys, even the disadvantaged ones, to have these experiences. All our scouts want to keep going back and I understand why. Great job Camp Emerald Bay!”

“Been going here for over 15 years and love it more each time. This place is a must for anyone seeking fun family atmosphere. What a great place to bring your kids or grandkids to reconnect with nature without electronics. Not just for kids though, Anyone loving to camp, gold pan, throw a fishing line in or just kick back and listen to the water go by will love it. I highly recommend the Saturday night BBQ and guarantee once you visit, you will return. Family owned and operated will make you feel right at home.”

“A true hidden gem of a campground. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Very beautiful and at night the stars are incredible. Be prepared, no on-site water and the campsites are a bit close together and have slope. As long as you know these details and are ok with it, you will love it. The camp host was lovely and the scenery can’t be beat.”

“I love this campground. It's a beautiful small campground nestled in the trees in the canyon. It has 22 sites....several first come first serve and then there are reserved spaces. I don't recommend long trailers. One man had a lot of trouble parking his 20 footer. The parking spaces are not really designed for that. It's geared towards tent camping. The bathrooms have a vault toilet in them. Currently there is no water available in Fern Basin Campground due to issues with the tanks. However, water is available at Marion Mountain Campground just up from Fern Basin. I really love staying here. I had no cell signal with Metro and another lady had T-Mobile and no signal. Her friend had one with Verizon. Please enjoy the beauty of the campground and help by picking up your trash and putting it in the dumpster provided. At $10 a night, you can't beat it. Very relaxing and peaceful.”

“Very clean and comfortable campsite. Sites don’t feel too close together and it’s very close to the palm canyon hiking trail. Lots of huge hills to climb nearby too. Try to come here during the spring or fall. The bathroom and showers are always clean when I’ve camped here. Its also within a very close distance to the town nearby. Great site to stay at for a desert hiking/rock climbing weekend.”

“Terri Comfort is the perfect hostess! I haven't stayed at the park, but they have nice dry camping sites. This is my second year cutting fresh lavender. She also has a small farm with cows, goats, alpaca, chicken and more. I gave Sweet Roy (the cow) a neck massage and he loved it!”

“Friendly staff. Woman owned park! It’s a small community and everyone is very friendly. Of all parks I’ve stayed at, I super loved the feeling of community here. The wash room is fast and convenient. Location is amazing. Great ocean breeze. A little ‘old school’ with the keys and garage doors openers, and hand written correspondence, but I actually appreciated all of these touches after a few days there. You really feel like family or a community here. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. ❤️Manager is named Nancy or Linda, I believe. She was such a sweetheart! ❤️❤️ The owner is a very direct and friendly woman — and that is very much appreciated! Love this place!”
