“I graduated in 2016. My older brothers also attended this school 13 years before me and had a horrible experience. Neither graduated and the younger was special needs and received no aid while he went through regular classes. I on the other hand had a wonderful experience with this school, it has drastically improved since my brothers time. The teachers are kind and compassionate, understanding and always willing to set time aside to help students. The after school activities are numerous and vary from sports to fun clubs and additional help with school work. Every staff member is glad to help. My only issue was when I broke my foot and was in crutches, still figuring out how to use them correctly, I would arrive at school almost an hour early because it would take me about 30 minutes to get to my 1st class. If a teacher saw me they would offer advice, but if one of the staff members on a golf cart went by they’d ignore me. It would have been nice to get a ride occasionally, especially to that first class as all others weren’t far from the 1st. Also I’d see the people on the carts give students a ride all the time and those students didn’t have anything like a brace or crutches. I get that the drivers probably had work to do, but a ride sometimes would still have been nice. I got only one and only because one of the stricter teachers wouldn’t take no for an answer from the guard who was rude to me when the teacher was gone and said he wouldn’t have given the ride if she hadn’t been there.”

“Parent Overall experience We have had four happy years at McNear. The Kindergarten program was AMAZING! We are most impressed by the strong community at McNear and the cultural and socioeconomic diversity. When touring the school, you will see parent volunteers in every classroom. There is an amazing garden, P.E. 2-3 times a week, credentialed music teachers teaching music once a week, Art Docents, a strong PTA, the upcoming McNear Art and Science Center, and more! And an unparalleled Performing Arts program. Simply amazing. The Principal is thoughtful and responsive and the community-building activities are excellent. Our best experience so far was with third grade teacher L.D. Amazing rapport with the kids! I saw nothing but great kindness and patience . She stayed after school many days on her own time to help her students and she inspires them to read! My son's very favorite teacher and we have had some really good ones! Each year, the school keeps getting better!”

“Our daughter has been going to Kinderhouse Montessori School for last last 3 years. She joined in toddler class when she was 2.5 years. This school has made such a positive impact on our daughter’s life. The teachers & the staff are wonderful. The teachers are caring, teach in small groups & let each child go at his or her own pace. Focus is on kid’s independence. They also use materials to help children understand the lessons in different ways and make learning things interesting & fun. Our daughter has made remarkable progress not only academically but also in social, emotional and behavioral aspects. The school is dedicated towards development of the whole child. The staff is always approachable and respond to any queries/concerns in a timely manner We are very grateful to the teachers and staff for the amazing difference they have made in our daughter’s life.”

“Our daughter has been going to La Costa Valley Preschool since she was just 2 years old, she is now 5 years old, so advanced and ready move to elementary school. She loved it there! The teachers are all so caring and creative, it help any parent feel at ease leaving their child in preschool. Our daughter always had so many news to tell us about her "busy" day: who was her friend today, what they learn at circle time, showed her artwork and crafts. And, of course, Field trips, community helpers visits gived her moments that she will remember for a long time. I would recommend La Costa Valley Preschool & Kindergarten to any parent looking for a safe and friendly Preschool!”

“With a long legacy of American Buddhism going back to 1970, IBMC is a treasure. There are teachers from different Buddhist traditions who give Dharma talks on a rotating basis at their Sunday services. Parking can be tricky, but it's worth a visit.”

“My son has been attending Montessori Preschool for about 3 years. He recently graduated into Kindergarten which is bittersweet because of how much me, my husband, and especially our son love the school. He is already reading and doing math and has the confidence to express himself artistically. All the teachers are amazing and show the kids so much love. It’s easy for a parent to feel good about dropping them off in the morning. I can’t say enough about how much my son has grown in his time at the school, and Ms. Virginia & her Staff have played an integral role in his development. Kindergarten will be a breeze.”

“Orion is an incredible institution with outstanding teachers. The class sizes are small, which allows students to get one to one attention. Orion offers many outstanding programs and all graduates have attended college, which is AMAZING 😊. The staff is welcoming and accommodating to parents and students. Enrolling your child at Orion will not be a mistake! 👍”

“I'm happy parent at reach, I have 4 student who is attending reach leadership academy, and let me tell you I have never seen a more diverse school with a caring staff and teachers such as reach! We moved so many times from private schools, to different private schools , and finally we found our self here! Our new home, at reach there's no limit to reaching your goals, they help student who are falling behind by offering tutoring. teachers are happily tutoring those who need it at their own time, they offer all that for free. Also the school is very safe, they practice all they safety precautions always. And they have a very nutritional program for the students, and their after school staff and program is Amazing. We feel we are family at reach. The Director Dr. Rentie is very involved and she has an open door policy, she takes every concern pretty seriously. I am one picky parent when it comes to my children education, and I never felt more happy than at reach! My daughter won the science fair at the county, and we also had another silver and bronze medal, and also my daughter got chosen to go to state and also national Broadcom masters they only choose the top 10 percent! So they also take state testing pretty seriously they give the student extra practice and all they help they need! My kids feel so special and they were crying and in tears that they were graduating from the school, they wanted to be there forever! I love all my kids teachers and all the staff members, also I like that they had a Soccer team, and this year we gonna start basket ball, their physical education program is great as well!”

“This is by far, the best elementary school in Citrus Heights. The staff goes above and beyond to help students achieve goals and the after school bridges program is the best. Also, while other schools parking lots are overflowing into the street before and after school, somehow Grand Oaks' is almost completely empty. Some days there were so few cars in the parking lot, I thought there was no school. 😀”
