I love this place. Kids connect night is a great idea and my son and I love going. If i could give it more stars I would. He learns so much and the teachers all really care about the kids. If you want to drop your kid off and feel safe this is the place.
My daughter has been attending COP for a little over 2 years, she has completed her kindergarten placement at a local charter school and has mastery of all incoming requirements. She has attended COP because she missed the deadline to start K this year. I feel confident in her ability to transition to elementary school with all of the social/ emotional skills she will need to succeed.
If you are looking for a child care provider, day care or preschool that:
Has unaccredited staff who maybe made it through high school 'teaching' your child.
That has a teacher turn over rate that is through the roof.
Serves boxed and prepackage food such as hotdog bites, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese everyday for lunch with little to no fresh fruit or produce.
Keeps your child indoors all day, except when the teacher decides that they would like to go out.
Would charge you extra for special services that your child might need, or that you would have to seek out on your own time and money.
Has class rooms that have so many kids there is very limited one on one time with your child and the ability of the teacher to assess and help your child is almost nonexistent. Not to mention that they probably lack the experience or knowledge to be able to identify if your child was having problems in the first place.
If you care more about what neighborhood the building is in, or its aesthetic rather than the content.
Then COP is not the place for you. There are plenty of places that will take your money to deal with your kid all day.
Not all child care facilities are created equal. There is never going to be a place that makes me 100% happy in every aspect. It is my job to negotiate the best environment for my child where she will thrive. It is my job to be motivational and encouraging in her learning process- she has at a minimum 12 more years of school, I don't want her to hate it before it even begins.
Kudos to COP for standing out from the pack and doing right by the child and the family instead of headquarters.
